Students of the course of Advertising & Advertising from the School of Communication, Arts and Design & Family of PUCRS, Rafaela Kuhn, Nicolas do Rio, Felipe Julius and Manoela Fonseca, won an award at the Latin American Design Awards, in the category Advertising, B2C Activaciones, with the work Totally Off The Wall’.
The award-winning work is a brand activation created in the context of the partnership between Vans and Mongoose, two brands that have come together to launch a special collection of shoes and clothes, celebrating their shared heritage. Vans is widely known for its strong connection with skateboarding, while Mongoose has roots in BMX. Based on this, the students proposed, in their work, an activation at Skate Park located on the Guaiba Rim in Porto Alegre, for being a place that concentrates the target audience of the two brands.
For Rafaela Kuhn, the experience of having won an international award while still in graduation was unforgettable. ”Definitely win a Latin American award alongside colleagues, better said, friends, makes everything more special. We felt that the work had potential and invested in it. The event was great, providing networking with professionals from various countries and the opportunity to hear great names in the creative industry. My tip for students: believe and bet on their work”.
Nicolas do Rio says that having participated in a prestigious event throughout Latin America was something incredible. ”Talking to major market players and acquiring valuable insights shows that it was worth the effort and dedication of going after this” award.
Felipe Julius demonstrates how the event provided new perspectives for the area of communication. ”Being there was an incredible experience, made possible by strategic thinking, which allowed our academic work to connect with the market, sowing inspiration and collaboration”.
Manoela Fonseca says that being recognized with a Latin American award for a work done in college was a very special milestone in her career. ”Gratitude to Famecos and my teachers, Vini Mano and Marcio Blank, for the opportunity to produce a work capable of going beyond the course, and a special thanks to my colleagues who represented our group very well on the day of the” award.
