How to have results that meet expectations?

When we think about what results we intend to achieve after a certain period of work in a company, we imagine the positive points and how these results will meet expectations in general. However, defining the result to be achieved is the part that I consider easier, the problem is precisely in outlining the strategies that we must define to achieve them.

First, the manager who is leading the process needs to have prior and extensive knowledge of the context in which it is inserted, especially the domain of the action that is being performed at that time, if applicable. In addition, the manager must be well prepared to deal with any difficulties that will probably arise midway and not lose sight of the medium/long term goal.

Ideally, leadership should bring the team closer together, so that together they can discuss the best ways to achieve the results that were previously established, or even that the team participates in defining what results should be achieved and to what extent. And some questions that I consider essential should be asked: all members understood what needs to be achieved and accomplished? All members have the skills and tools necessary to do their respective tasks?

Depending on these answers, the manager will know if he can continue the process to achieve the results. Making sure that the employees understood everything and that they know how their respective performances impact the set of details is essential, because this way it is possible that they engage more and more, since they will be working literally for results.

In this sense, my biggest recommendation is to adopt a management by OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) -, because the manager and employees will be able to have more clarity and focus to achieve the expected results, in addition to teamwork, which makes the process more motivating, because each has its merit at the time of making the wheel of the company spin.

In addition, the tool also allows that any errors can be recognized and identified easier and faster, from the moment that encourages the realization of frequent adjustments in the strategy execution plan, because it has smaller and shorter cycles, usually three months. Thus, recalculating the route and changing the path is not as painful as in other situations

Putting these things into practice will already generate more results, and to generate more results still, it would be the case to fall short of expectations, because we set goals that are difficult to achieve, those that give cold in the belly and motivate us to deliver the best of us.
