The annual research, State of Search Brasil 5 by Hedgehog Digital, a specialized SEO agency, revealed that 62% of quick searches done on smartphones are to solve daily doubts.
The study involved responses from over 4,000 people and showed a percentage similar to last year’s research, where when asked the same question, received 63% of responses in ‘searching for daily doubts that arise.’
With 21% of responses, the survey showed that people use the smartphone/tablet search engine to learn a new skill or knowledge. Overall, the results presented for the question ‘What kind of research do you do on your smartphone/tablet’ were:
- Quick ones, about daily doubts – 62%
- To learn a new skill/knowledge – 21%
- School/Academic related – 9%
- To learn more about a specific phenomenon – 6%
- Others – 2%
Among the respondents, text searches on smartphones/tablets dominated with 88%, while image searches, whether by attaching or taking a photo, were at 13% and voice searches, showing a decrease compared to the previous study, at 13%.
In addition, the respondents of State of Search Brasil 5 showed a higher use of smartphones and tablets in their daily lives.
Among people over 50 years old, 68% believe there has been an increase in usage, while young people aged between 16 and 24 years old had a 50% increase in cellphone usage in their daily lives.
The present and future of searches
A State of Search Brasil 5 also questioned Brazilians about the quantity, quality, and ease of the searches they conducted in the last 12 months and how they believe it will be in the next year.
The result showed that 6 out of 10 people believe they will conduct more qualified searches and 67% think it will be easier to find what they need, envisioning an overall evolution in the results that search engines will provide.
Therefore, we can predict that the general public expects to do even more searches on their smartphones and believe that search engines will continue to evolve, offering answers that align with what they will be looking for.
