Inner AI Launches Llama 3.1 in Brazil

On the last Tuesday, July 23, Inner AI stood out in the technology scene by becoming the first Brazilian startup to make available the generative artificial intelligence model Llama 3.1, developed by Meta. The launch took place on the same day Meta officially presented the new version of its model, aiming to directly compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

International Context

Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, announced that Llama 3.1 would initially be available only in the United States, with plans to expand to other countries in Latin America, such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru. However, Brazil was not included in this initial list due to regulatory issues. The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) rejected Meta’s new privacy policy, which used user data to improve its AI system, alleging violations of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

Challenging the limitations imposed by the ANPD, Inner AI announced the integration of Llama 3.1 into its platform, becoming the first company in Brazil to offer this cutting-edge technology. Pedro Salles, co-founder and CEO of Inner AI, explained how the startup achieved this feat. “Meta’s models, including Llama 3.1, are Open Source. This allows anyone to download and run the model on their own server,” Salles said.

Inner AI used its own GPUs and advanced infrastructure to operate Llama 3.1, offering the model to its users in Brazil. “It’s a big risk for the population to depend on a single AI model manufacturer, and Inner aims to bring together the best of what each AI model has to offer. Meta made an incredible contribution to open-source code and for the future we are building,” the CEO emphasized.

The Inner AI initiative not only puts the startup at the forefront of AI technology in Brazil but also paves the way for greater diversity and independence in the use of artificial intelligence models in the country. The measure promises to benefit companies and developers seeking innovative and personalized solutions for their content creation needs and other applications.

With this action, Inner AI reaffirms its commitment to innovation and democratization of technology while positioning itself as a relevant player in the competitive artificial intelligence market.
