Bargain and promotion profiles have been successful in WhatsApp groups and on social networks such as Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). Trending in recent years, the strategy involves the content creator behind the account searching for discounts in digital stores and helping their followers save. The method is nothing more than affiliate marketing, an agreement in which affiliates receive a commission for each visit or sale.
According to Glassdoor, a professional working in affiliate marketing earns an average of R$ 8,731.00, almost three times the average Brazilian salary of R$ 3,123.00, according to the latest survey conducted this year by the National Household Sample Survey (Pnad). Therefore, it can be said that profitability is one of the factors that explain the rise of this work model. That’s why finance influencer Jhonatas Silva created a step-by-step guide for anyone to create a bargain profile from scratch and sell as an affiliate on any social network.
Step 1: Create an account on a social network from scratch
“It is important that the account be created from scratch because if the account is personal or already in use, it will disrupt the algorithm’s delivery. The social network algorithm needs to understand who to deliver the videos to. If you use an existing account, the video will be delivered to the wrong audience, and chances are your account won’t get many views”
Step 2: Create an account and affiliate yourself with major market stores
“Most stores nowadays accept affiliation: Amazon, Magalu, Shopee, Mercado Livre, among others. I recommend creating accounts in different stores because there are promotions on Shopee that are not on Magalu, for example. Just like Amazon has many good promotions that others do not have, and so on.”
Step 3: Post viral videos about the product
“You can use Instagram and TikTok videos as inspiration to create your own. Additionally, it’s interesting that you buy the product to record the video yourself. But in the beginning, I recommend that you post videos of other people because you may not afford to buy these products. I suggest using an editing mask, which means taking parts of various videos only showing the product and overlaying your narration, for example. Over time, as you earn more money, it’s advisable to buy the products yourself to have 100% original content that is not at risk of being taken down.”
Step 4: Put the affiliate link in the bio and stories
“In addition to the bio and stories, I recommend that after 24 hours, you pin the link in the Instagram highlights. This will generate a lot of conversions because people will arrive at your profile through the video, will be interested, will click on the profile to see and will already be faced with the pinned link. Therefore, it’s good to make it as easy as possible for the user not to waste time looking for where to go, as this causes most people to give up.”
Step 5: Watch videos that got the most views and make similar ones in the future
“Over time, you will notice that some videos will get more views than others. Seek to analyze the posts that received the most engagement and ask yourself: What did I do in this video to make people more interested? Did it have more comments and, therefore, was it delivered to more users? If yes, what did I say in the video that generated more comments? See what you can take away from it to replicate in the future, and consequently, make more sales”.
Step 6: Give reasons for the person to follow your page
“You need to show the person that you want to help them, and in this case, is there anything that demonstrates this more than posting promotions? It is essential in the beginning that you gain the loyalty of your follower. Even if you don’t earn a commission, imagine that there is a product that normally costs R$ 400.00 and the next day you post a promotion with the same product costing half the price. The person will immediately become loyal to your page and follow you because it is useful for them. Gaining the trust of your followers is essential for the growth of your profile. How you talk about the promotion is also important, ideally always do it naturally. Replace the word “sell” with the word “recommend,” for example. You won’t post on stories telling people to buy that product because it’s cool. First, show what the product can do and then say you have a discount link. The person who is interested will click on your link and buy. Remember that the word “salesperson” creates distance, but everyone likes to buy”.
Step 7: Withdraw the commission directly to your account
“As it is a commission and physical products, there is a chance that it may take a few days for the money to be released to your account. This is completely normal because with the process of purchases, often stores make the commission amount visible to you for viewing, but only release it for withdrawal when the product arrives at the customer’s house and ensures that there will be no refund or exchange. Always think about the total amount, I believe that once you make the first sale, the next ones will be much easier because you already understand how the method works and know which path to follow”.
