Opera announced this Tuesday (14) that Aria, its browser-native AI, is now available on iOS without requiring login. This update completes the account-free access implementation across all the company’s major platforms – the desktop and Android versions received this feature earlier this year. Additionally, the iPhone browser continues to show significant growth, with a month-over-month increase of 33% in new users in the European Union and 31% globally.
Aria without an account on iOS
With the login requirement removed, iOS users can now directly access Aria’s advanced features on their iPhones without disrupting their browsing. The artificial intelligence provides a personalized experience tailored to mobile users’ needs. Features like instant page summaries, source identification for links, and contextual query handling are fully optimized for devices running this system.
This ensures people can rely on Aria for productivity and creativity, whether on the go or at home. Beyond its advanced AI capabilities, the browser assistant seamlessly integrates with the iOS interface, enabling direct interactions through the software’s menu.
Aria offers tools such as Image Generation, to create visuals for projects or personal use, and Image Understanding, which analyzes uploaded images to provide insights or editing suggestions.
To access it on iOS without an account, simply update the Opera browser to the latest version. Note that Image Generation is limited to five per day for logged-out users. Upon reaching this limit, an account login prompt appears. When logged in, the daily limit increases to 30 images and unlocks additional benefits like conversation history saving.
Home screen widgets
This Opera update for iOS also introduces a new feature: customizable home screen widgets. The widgets allow creating shortcuts directly on the iPhone’s home screen, enabling one-click access to essential features.
For setup, simply press and hold the Opera icon on the home screen. You can create widgets that function as shortcuts to Aria or search, plus options to open a new tab or enter Private Mode.
This action also displays a menu with other options. You can open a new tab or private tab, access search or the AI tool, among others. These additions streamline daily browsing by offering instant, one-tap access to the most important features.
Steady growth on iOS
These updates have driven significant recent growth for Opera on iOS. Between September and November 2024, the iPhone software saw a 33% increase in new users within the European Union and 31% growth globally.
