The year 2025 promises to be a milestone in logistics evolution, with disruptive technologies digitally transforming how companies operate and interact with customers. Luft Logistics, which positions itself as a growth platform for clients, has listed the five key trends expected to drive the sector this year.

In a highly demanding market, the company emphasizes the importance of innovation to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance customer experience. In the company’s ranking, Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands out as the main protagonist of digital transformation. According to Data Makers’ survey, 8 out of 10 C-level executives prioritize AI.

“AI permeates all areas, from warehouse automation to demand forecasting and route optimization,” says Gustavo Saraiva, the company’s CIO. Below, the executive highlights the standout technologies this year:

AI at all levels

AI is not limited to warehouse robots. In 2025, it will be applied in demand forecasting, with intelligent algorithms analyzing historical data and external variables to predict demand accurately, optimizing inventory and avoiding waste; in route optimization, with software calculating the most efficient routes considering factors like traffic, weather conditions, and fuel costs, thereby reducing delivery times and saving resources; in customer service, with chatbots providing 24/7 support, answering FAQs, tracking orders, and resolving issues quickly and efficiently; and in predictive maintenance, with sensors monitoring equipment in real time, predicting failures, and scheduling preventive maintenance.

Internet of Things (IoT)

IoT also emerges as a trend for a connected supply chain. It enables linking all elements, from suppliers to end customers. Sensors, trackers, and smart devices collect real-time data on location, temperature, humidity, and other critical variables, ensuring visibility and enabling real-time tracking. In inventory management, sensors help monitor stock levels, automating replenishment and preventing shortages; in monitoring the temperature of sensitive products, the integrity of perishables, medicines, and other items requiring strict temperature control is ensured during transport and storage.

Advanced robotics

Robotics for automation is also on the rise, with autonomous and collaborative robots (cobots) increasingly present in warehouses and distribution centers, performing tasks like picking and packing, material handling, and pallet and box transport. This flow optimization frees employees for more complex tasks. In inventory, drones with cameras and sensors can conduct stock counts quickly and accurately, eliminating the need for operational interruptions.

Blockchain

Security and transparency is another bet in logistics. Blockchain technology ensures data security and immutability, applied for product tracking, guaranteeing authenticity and provenance. It will also be increasingly used in contract management and data sharing, enabling secure information exchange among different supply chain participants.

Sustainability

Finally, environmental care remains a crucial factor. In 2025, sustainability should continue as a competitive differentiator for companies, through route optimization, AI, and algorithms reducing distances traveled and fuel consumption; renewable energy, fleet electrification, CNG, and solar power. Eco-friendly packaging, using recycled and biodegradable materials, will also reduce environmental impact.
