If you are not part of Generation Z or Generation Alpha, you may not know what the MS-DOS operating system is. This system was the precursor to the technological evolution we experience today. It was based on MS-DOS that Gestran, now one of the leading fleet management platforms in Brazil, developed its first software, Transdata, in 1999.
Twenty-five years after the company’s founding, Transdata – Gestran’s Sistran MS-DOS System – remains in the collective memory and is part of the logtech’s success story. Today, with the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning, features the platform has incorporated into its solutions, Gestran continues to align itself with technological revolution and the new demands of the transport and logistics market.
The platform has achieved 40% growth in 2024. Gestran’s products and solutions currently manage 70,000 vehicles across the country, serving more than 750 organizations across various economic sectors, including major retail, industrial, agribusiness, and transport companies.
“We reached 25 years by implementing a process we call ‘AI-lization’—that is, developing and integrating AI [artificial intelligence] into the platform definitively and robustly,” says Gestran CEO Paulo Raymundi.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Gestran completed a rebranding, updating the company’s brand and culture. The visual identity was modified, and concepts like ‘Open Fleet’ were introduced—an innovation practice that integrates technologies and devices for fleet management. This integration includes solutions like Pneu Fit (real-time tire condition monitoring) and a fuel app (for fuel management).
Alongside the rebranding, Gestran is developing seven new products that represent an advancement over existing solutions (see box at the end of this article). “With Open Fleet and the new products, fleet managers will have technological tools that enable more efficient fleet administration and operations, leading to cost reduction, resource savings, and fleet optimization,” highlights the CEO.
Raymundi notes that, in addition to technological innovations, Gestran has kept pace with the evolution of the transport and logistics market in Brazil, particularly in fleet management. In the late 1990s, biofuels and fleet electrification were merely experimental concepts, and vehicle automation was in its early stages.
“Investments in this market have grown exponentially. Between 2022 and 2026 alone, the projected investment amount is R$ 124 billion, according to the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Base Industries [Adib]. Transport and logistics are essential for economic growth, and optimizing and streamlining operations in this sector is equally vital,” evaluates Gestran’s CEO.
