Open Source is responsible for more agile innovations in Brazilian companies

During a recent visit to Brazil, SUSE CEO, Dirk-Peter Van Leeuwen, shared valuable insights on the growing impact of open source solutions in the global and local technological landscape. During his stay, DP discussed how SUSE is leading innovation in critical areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and data security, highlighting the key role of open source in accelerating these technologies. The executive also emphasized SUSE’s commitment to the Brazilian and Latin American markets.

“By enabling rapid and collaborative innovation, open source projects have driven significant advances in internet, cloud, and AI sectors. Unlike proprietary software, which restricts access to its code, open source allows for widespread sharing and improvement, fostering an environment where technology evolves quickly and inclusively,” explained DP. According to the CEO, who has around 30 years of industry experience, with approximately 20 of them in open source, open source tools were crucial for the early developments of machine learning. The principles of open source – collaborative enhancements, knowledge sharing, and transparency – will be essential for the future health of AI.

Brazilian Market and Expansion

Since October 2023, when SUSE wrapped up its fiscal year, the company more than doubled the number of employees on the Latin America sales team. “Brazil has great growth potential, and we know our model provides full support for companies, in addition to the advantages of open source to accelerate organizational growth,” highlights DP. As SUSE continues to expand its presence in Latin America, including a new office in Mexico, the company remains committed to providing innovative and secure solutions for businesses worldwide.

Linux and Kubernetes have been recognized as transformative technologies, with SUSE recently acknowledged by Gartner® as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant™ for Container Management, thanks to SUSE’s product, Rancher Prime, a cloud-native platform that helps organizations manage and protect their container workloads. Designed for enterprise use, it can be used to run Kubernetes locally, in the cloud, and at the edge. This recognition highlights SUSE’s execution capability and comprehensive vision. According to Gartner, the Magic Quadrant is the result of in-depth research in a specific market, providing a broad view of the relative positions of key competitors. Leaders not only execute their current strategies well but are also well-prepared for the future.

Trends – Looking ahead, SUSE aims to further enhance its infrastructure solutions, focusing on AI and other emerging technologies. The company’s new AI solutions are designed to protect sensitive data, ensuring that they remain secure even in the face of potential vulnerabilities.
