Hughes do Brasil, a subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), is expanding its cybersecurity-related portfolio with the launch of Hughes Cybersecurity – Managed Detection and Response Service (MDR). The innovation is part of the company’s commitment to enhancing the digital security of its customers.
The new Hughes Cybersecurity service aims to detect, act, and protect customers against cyber-attacks that are increasingly sophisticated, complex, creative, and damaging to business operations. Any intrusive and malicious action that could cause harm is monitored and detected in real-time using layered network defense structures combined with the latest technology, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is done through proactive and specific actions to contain threats before they can cause significant damage.
“Cyber-attacks result in financial losses in the millions and can lead to significant reputation damage for companies. Regardless of size, none are immune to these risks. What we are doing with Hughes Cybersecurity is adding an even higher, effective, and up-to-date level of security to the communication and data network systems we offer to our customers,” highlights Ricardo Amaral, vice president of Enterprise at Hughes do Brasil.
According to the business consulting company McKinsey, the cybersecurity market is undergoing significant growth with projections that companies’ investments in cyber security products and services will increase by around 13% by 2025. This rapid growth is driven by the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, especially with the advancement of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). The research also highlights that companies are increasingly reliant on outsourced solutions, mainly due to labor shortages and the complexity of attacks, making the role of cybersecurity providers even more necessary to sustain operations and innovation in the sector.
“Companies need to realize the need to implement a robust protection plan, with quick incident responses and effective actions, to ensure data security and operational continuity,” explains Amaral.
With the new service, remote monitoring of clients’ networks is done using the latest market tools to combat cyber attacks, supported by a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) for incident response and action. “Our Hughes Cybersecurity service is designed for protection in multiple layers, making it difficult and preventing attacks from occurring and causing operational and commercial damages. Our comprehensive protection ranges from firewall perimeter to laptops and mobile devices increasingly used by employees to remotely access the corporate network. It’s a thorough 360-degree protection,” explains Amaral.
It is worth highlighting the importance of monitoring these additional layers in a scenario where a large part of companies have their teams working in a hybrid model, with employees working from home during part of the week. They take company laptops and other equipment home and access their own home internet networks from there, which can facilitate cyberattacks,” he notes. “Attacks are generally orchestrated: they start superficially and can escalate, eventually taking over the entire company network,” warns the executive.
