iFood launches new features that make the app more practical and secure

iFood, a Brazilian technology company, has introduced new features that make the app more practical and secure for users. The main novelty is for those who own an Apple Watch: now, it’s possible to track the order status directly on the watch, from the start of preparation to the estimated arrival time. This will make it easier for customers to know when to go down to pick up their order.

With this new feature, it’s now possible to receive order updates without having the phone nearby. The goal is to help customers plan better to ensure fast and efficient delivery, without making the delivery person wait.

watchOS 11 is compatible with iPhone Xs or later or iPhone SE (2nd generation or later) with iOS 18 and one of these Apple Watch models: SE (2nd generation); Series 6, 7, 8, 9, 10; or Ultra and Ultra 2.

Improvements in notification delivery

Another novelty for iOS users is the introduction of the ‘Reminders’ component – an alert for customers to enable push notifications, sent to track their order. As a result, 21% of users have already enabled these alerts on their phones.

With the ‘time sensitive’ notification feature for iOS, urgent notifications can now be displayed even with ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode activated. Thus, order statuses and cancellations now reach users without interruptions.

New features for Android

iFood has improved order tracking, allowing users to receive updates even with the screen locked. This was already available for iOS and now extends to Android smartphones as well.

Identified calls

Also aiming to facilitate contact with customers when the order is in progress, iFood launched the identified call feature, providing more visibility that the call is indeed from iFood.

There was an 18% increase in the acceptance rate of these calls in capitals such as Brasília and Salvador. If the delivery person cannot locate the customer, iFood attempts a phone call after 15 minutes.
