DHL Express, the world’s largest express shipping company, in partnership with Águia Sistemas, a leading company in the manufacturing of storage structures and system integration for movement and automation in intralogistics, presents the largest cargo processing center in Brazil and the second in Latin America at Viracopos Airport in Campinas (SP).
Águia Sistemas developed the advanced logistics automation project in the new cargo processing center to meet the needs of the new location, which has an area of 2.5 thousand square meters and operates 24 hours.
“Before the project, DHL used to take two to three days to release the cargo. Now, with the new investments, the company will be able to reduce this time to just a few hours, providing a faster and more efficient service to customers,” explains Helena Tamura, Automation Manager at Águia Sistemas.
In addition to having technology and automation design, the center also features innovations such as automated conveyors and barcode identification systems, which increase operational efficiency and ensure security and compliance with customs regulations.
“DHL Express invested R$23 million in its new cargo processing center, and the space, dedicated to processing imports and international shipments, has the capacity to process up to 3 thousand orders per hour,” explains Mirele Mautschke, CEO of DHL Express in Brazil.
Sustainable building
The Viracopos Gateway has received a high investment in cutting-edge technologies, which includes the construction of a fully sustainable building equipped with 164 solar panel arrays and 100% LED lighting for the night. This modern structure allows for the use of natural daylighting and reduces approximately 46% of electrical energy consumption. Additionally, the infrastructure also features water harvesting for reuse, optimizing consumption and contributing to sustainability.
