85% of medical appointments are already scheduled via mobile devices, research shows

The digitalization of healthcare in Brazil is no longer a promise, but a reality. An impressive 85% of medical appointments are already scheduled via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, according to the “Digital Patient Profile 2025” survey by Doctoralia. The remaining 15% are made via computer.

Among the specialties with the most appointments, gynecology leads with 12%, followed by psychiatry with 9%, and dermatology with 8%.

Additionally, telemedicine continues to expand in Brazil. The Distrito Healthtechs Report indicates that 87% of patients adopted the practice for initial virtual consultations, and 93% use it to manage medical prescriptions, consolidating the concept of remote care as part of the population’s daily routine. According to Doctoralia, telemedicine appointments increased by 53% from 2023 to 2024, rising from 2 million to 3.1 million.

For medical clinics and hospitals, adapting to this new reality requires investing in digital systems that provide agility without compromising quality and patient care.

In this environment, intelligent solutions take center stage. Automating appointments, for example, eliminates the need for traditional phone calls, allowing patients to schedule appointments anytime, directly from their mobile devices. Additionally, technology reduces front-desk overload, minimizes human errors, and improves attendance rates by sending automatic reminders that help patients keep their health commitments.

For Jenifer Calvi, Head of Product and Business at Irrah Tech — an expert in intelligent solutions for retail and healthcare — the key is ensuring an experience so natural that patients don’t even realize they’re interacting with an automated system.

To achieve this, the company provides tools to the global market (70 countries) that allow medical clinics to create customized artificial intelligence agents for various service and marketing fronts. Focused on scalability without sacrificing personalization, the technology — named GPTMaker — enables brands to train their own virtual assistants with specific data, language, and objectives, enhancing intelligent and strategic interaction with the public.

“Our platform schedules appointments so efficiently and smoothly that it feels like human service. The artificial intelligence works behind the scenes to deliver convenience without losing the sensitivity and care that patients need,” explains Jenifer.

The solution integrates interactions via WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, and Facebook. To give an idea, 23% of people research health topics on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, according to the Digital Patient Profile survey.

The tool also connects with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), and Google Calendar systems, consolidating all information in one place. This allows access to patient histories and even past interactions, adjusting how care is delivered. And if the virtual agent cannot answer, the conversation can be automatically transferred to a human attendant.

For Jenifer, the true differentiator of the assistant is combining the speed of digitalization with the essential human touch in healthcare: “Being digital isn’t enough; it must be humanized. Patients want to feel heard, even in an automated process. This balance between technology and empathy defines the future of medical care.”

And time for all this? According to the expert, creating virtual assistants takes up to 5 minutes. Just name the bot, indicate your business website, or provide other materials with necessary information for client interaction, such as PDFs or Word files. Videos can also be uploaded.

With plans starting at R$ 87 per month, businesses of various sizes can automate up to 70% of customer service.
