The search for the development of digital skills is increasingly demanded, especially in the job market. Areas related to technologies, data, design, and even those professions that use the digital environment for sales or product and service promotion – such as social media – already have a strong presence within companies.
However, to become a professional who can occupy these positions, qualification is the first step to finding good opportunities. And Brazilians are seeking to improve in these areas, as revealed by a study conducted by DataCamp, an online technology, data, and artificial intelligence platform, which shows the most sought-after courses in 2024 focused on the development of digital skills.
Below, it is possible to check the ranking with the fifteen most sought-after courses in the areas of technology, data, design, and digital communication:

Technology
In technology, there is an intense search for basic knowledge in the field, such as in computer and information technology courses, which are directly related to the production, storage, transmission, access, and security of information. Another area of interest is programming, which can be seen in searches for courses in analysis and systems development, as well as interest in some specific programming languages like Power BI and Python.
Data
The data field has been growing significantly in recent years, with a highlight for 2024. Furthermore, many professions related to data analysis and utilization appear promising for 2025. Among the most sought-after courses, computer science, information systems, and data science demonstrate the growing interest of Brazilians in these areas, which, besides bringing promising opportunities, promise very attractive remuneration.
Design, marketing, and social media
Still within the development of digital skills, but this time more connected to communication branches, courses in digital marketing and social media are gaining more space, especially at a time when social networks are a source of income for many – from bloggers to small business owners who depend on the platforms to generate income. Meanwhile, the more traditional graphic design course remains highly sought after by Brazilians, appearing in third place in the ranking. These areas tend to attract people who enjoy combining technical knowledge with creativity.
AI and general knowledge
Some knowledge is closely linked to the digital universe but can be used in various market segments. This is the case for Excel, Office suite, and more recently, artificial intelligence. These are tools that allow their use from a basic to a highly advanced level, making them present in the daily lives of various professions.
With the emergence of artificial intelligence and its already established use in the routine of part of the population, learning resources like ChatGPT are proving to be strategic for professionals in all areas and positions, as it appears as a facilitating instrument for task execution. With artificial intelligence increasingly present in everyday life, in addition to learning its functions for assistance in various tasks, more and more opportunities are opening up for those who become experts in the use of tools.
For Martijn Theuwissen, COO of DataCamp, in the digital environment, especially after the rapid advances observed with artificial intelligence, it will become increasingly rare for someone not to need to regularly improve themselves, taking new courses almost annually. “The market is already demanding diversified skills and quick adaptations, making courses – truly applicable in day-to-day life – essential for those who want to stand out and remain professionally relevant,” he says.
Methodology
To discover the most sought-after digital skills courses in 2024, DataCamp started by investigating the terms commonly used by Brazilians for this search, such as: “course”, “course of”, “learn”, and “learning in”. Searches from internet platforms such as Google, Bing, Youtube, TikTok, X, and Pinterest were analyzed. Then, the data available from the past year, corresponding to the period from November 2023 to October 2024, were examined. To create the ranking, the top fifteen courses that had the highest search volume in the last twelve months were selected.
