BS2 acquires Voucherpay and bets on international Pix expansion

O BS2, financial ecosystem focused on corporate clients, announces the acquisition of Voucherpay, a platform that allows Brazilians to make purchases abroad using Pix or credit cards with installment payments in reais. The expectation is that the solution will handle around R$ 100 million in transactions per year.

Founded in 2019 by Brapago, a payments fintech, in partnership with BS2, Voucherpay meets a growing demand from Brazilian consumers who travel abroad or live near international borders, especially in the Ciudad del Este region of Paraguay. With the acquisition, BS2 now owns the technology, operations, and the brand—the latter was previously registered by the bank itself.

The platform features a system integrated with BS2’s Pix APIs and acquiring systems, allowing Brazilian consumers to make payments as if they were in Brazil, even when receiving products outside the country. ‘We are enabling a smooth and localized shopping experience, even at foreign points of sale,’ says Carlos Eduardo de Andrade, BS2’s head of Foreign Exchange.

This is not the first time BS2 has innovated in cross-border operations. In 2023, the bank was a pioneer in launching the solution Easy Pay, a cross-selling offer for foreign exchange and cash management that enables 24/7 international transactions. ‘Today, we dominate this journey end-to-end, and having Voucherpay in-house adds even more robustness to our operations,’ says the executive.

Voucherpay will be managed by a multidisciplinary unit within the bank, involving areas such as foreign exchange, acquiring, and technology. According to Andrade, the acquisition represents a strategic bet on the advancement of international Pix and the expansion of financial products linked to foreign exchange, acquiring, and receivables anticipation. Additionally, the incorporation of the group’s acquiring company into BS2’s operations facilitated the consolidation of the business.

Currently present in Paraguay and Europe, BS2 aims to expand Voucherpay’s geographic reach. The goal is to achieve a monthly transaction volume of R$ 20 million by 2026. To achieve this, the bank plans to intensify the onboarding of international merchants and strengthen product distribution in the market.
