China has maintained its position as Brazil's main trading partner since 2009, being the largest exporter and importer to the country. In 2023, Brazil imported more than US$53 billion in Chinese products, representing approximately 22.1% of all imports into the country. Data provided by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) and the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) reinforce this trend. But, ultimately, what are the most promising products to import from China and resell in Brazil?
Rogério Marin, a foreign trade specialist, director of the company Tek Trade and president of the Union of Foreign Trade Companies of Santa Catarina, highlights that there is a growing demand for computer products, drones, technologies, toys, and pet supplies. However, he warns that this can only be a lucrative opportunity if the entrepreneur has a deep understanding of the sector in which they are investing.
Technology and Information Technology
China is a global leader in the production of technology and electronics, making these items some of the most promising for import in 2024. Products such as computer accessories, drones, and virtual reality devices are among the most sought after. Constant innovation and improvements in the quality of Chinese electronics, combined with competitive prices, provide an attractive profit margin for importers.
Toys and Games
The toy and game market also presents lucrative opportunities. China is a major producer of these items, ranging from innovative and educational toys to board games and remote-controlled toys. When importing these products, it is essential to strictly comply with safety standards and regulations. Tek Trade, for example, operates in accordance with the guidelines of the National Institute of Metrology (Inmetro).
Pet Supplies
The pet market has shown steady growth over the years, expanding by approximately 316% in the last six years, according to the Instituto Pet Brasil (IPB). With increasing demand, the sale of pet supplies represents an excellent opportunity, both wholesale and retail. In this context, importing can become a great ally in boosting business.
“Importing from China is an excellent alternative to meet the demand for products that are not produced on a large scale in Brazil or to bring innovations that are not yet available on the national market. However, it is important to emphasize that this will never replace the national product. Importing items can become a great business, provided that the entrepreneur has in-depth knowledge of the segment. It is not possible to generate profitability in something you do not master. In addition, it is essential to have the support of a company specializing in foreign trade, which will take care of the entire process efficiently and safely,” highlights Rogério Marin.
